We have a 1999 Eddie Bauer Explorer that won't start. We had the battery tested and it's fine. We want to remove the starter to have it tested but don't know what it looks like or where to find it. All we've been told is "lower rear end of engine". Can someone please help? Pictures would be very helpful!

Thanks!
Jenny

Don't know if its much help but the starter motor is that cylindrical looking thing next to the oil pan... sorry but I don't have any pictures.

And don't forget to disconnect the battery first.

Its on the passanger side at the rear of the motor. You need to crawl under the car and look. It is a Black tube looking unit held in by 3 bolts and it has a big red wire connected to it. Sorry do not have any pictures. Do a search on autozone.com to get a picture of what it looks like and go under the car and take a look. Its easy to find. Good luck. I had to replace mine. Found it on ebay for 40 bucks shipped brand new. It is not to difficult.
