i have a 2000 explorer 4.0 v6 ohv. the problem im having is the a/c compressor wont kick in. the system is charged. i replaced the low pressure switch. i jumped the low pressure switch to get the compressor to kick on but it didnt. the only way i can get it to run is if i jump it straight to the battery. relays and fuses are also good. weird thing is when i used a test light on the negative battery post on the compressor pigtail i got nothing out of either port that plugs into the compressor but when i switched it to the positive post and probed it they both lit up. can anyone tell me what the hell is going on? im stumped...

basically, your test (with the positive connection) was just testing that your battery does have 12v and that some "form of circuit to ground" (ie. resistance plus) exists. Your other test (negative connection) is telling you that no voltage is showing up at the compressor... that's why it isn't working... :-) get a meter and check the low pressure switch, the high pressure switch and the WOT relay to see where voltage is present and where it isn't and go from there.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting no power to any of the ac system

then you have a wiring or fuse issue.

what are the relays for under the drivers side dashboard by your right foot? theres 7 of them. one bigger and six smaller ones
