All 1st gen explorers have dana 35.. for some reason the computes for Autozone etc show that the 28 is an option, which is was not...

Also, if you have a checker/kragen/o'riely/shucks auto parts around, get the mcquay-norris ball extreme duty ball joints.. Much better than the moog or duralast you can get at autozone.

we only have 2 choices here ... autozone or advance auto parts....

Out of the brand choices I saw through autozone and advanced, I'd go with the TRW brand ball joints..

EDIT: I am assuming you have a 4x4 since you asked about dana 28 vrs 35.. btw.. if you want a "feel good" way to quaduple check if its a dana 35.. look at the upper ball joint.. If it held in with a pinch bolt its the dana 35..

Well, since i had to have the ball joints replaced and back to the inspection shop by 2pm when they closed (sticker ran out 3-09 and you only have 5 days passed exp. to get it fixed before the cops start screwing with ya) i had to go with both places cause autozone had the uppers in stock and advance had the lowers in stock..lol... but, hey its fixed and i don't have to worry about inspection (atleast till next year). I was shocked that it pass emission inspection on the first try... our state is pretty **** on emissions, personally i think emissions is BS in PA...lol
