ABS light came on in my 99 XLT. Used Snap-on scanner and read rear speed sensor. Has anyone done the swap of this part? Where is it exactly and how complicated is the replacement.

Yes, I have had to replace mine. This sensor is on the top of the rear differential. Its a snap to replace, held on with only one bolt; a 2 minute job.

Ford part number F852-2L373-AC. Sorry, I don't remember the price.

Good luck.

As al said, it's very easy. The only possible problem you would have replacing the rear ABS sensor would be if the bolt is rusty. If that is the case, get some PB Blaster (or some other good penetrant) and soak the bolt prior to removal.

rear ABS sensor

I just replaced mine last weekend. After reading many posts here I just assumed it was the problem and coughed up the $22.72.Thank you Explorer Forum!!. Took about ten minutes to replace it.It's located on top of the diff,a single bolt holds it in place and there is a single electrical connection.Simple
