Need help with upper control arm

I keep finding these upper control arms with a shaft in the back? not sure what the part name is.. but I mistakenly ordered ones without the shaft in the back (it still said it would fit).

My question is can i still use the ones without the shaft and somehow get that shaft out of my old upper control arm?

The second one, from am-autoparts.com, are the correct ones for the 2002 - 2005 4dr explorer.
