1994 Ranger 3.0L V6 - 235
Just Joined Forum

Vehicle: 1994 Ranger XLT 3.0L V6 235,000 mi
Owned since 1996 / 28.000 mi

Problem: Truck runs good til after 15 - 20 miles Then it begins to
sputter & bog down then shuts off - will not start till sits 1 1/2- 2 hrs
First Diagnosis : Bad Gas

Replaced AIr Filter, Fuel Filter, Plugs,Wires, PVC

Problem continued

Replaced MAF (unplugged when running rough & engine ran better)

Problem continues

Bought Code reader: Showed
156, 157, 211, Hard 565

Reset (having replaced MAF)

Today had problem: checked codes
565 - Purge Canister

121 - TPS signal voltgage

This problem only happens when gets HOT,

Can hear Fuel Pump Prime when no start

I have searched for answers to no avail !!

Time to replace TPS or look at other options?:(
 






...I would start with the canister purge valve (aka solenoid purge valve)...I had a similar problem and it was a bear to find...It surned out when I took a turn or bump, mine would hit the wires against metal and ground out...You would not believe how much the computer relies on this one item...

...From your tps, egr, and spv codes, this makes me think that you have disconected/damaged/ or shorted wires...
 






You can test your solenoid by cutting a wire harness off at the junkyard and putting 12volts to it and trying to blow through it. Should be closed with no power and open with power. I'd probably grab a solenoid at the junk yard while your there. The hoses and the tee on the solenoid break easily so leave the hoses on the solenoid and pull them off the canister and the nipple on the intake.
