hello everbody my name is mike i have just aq did not work at alluire 4x4d a 1992 explorer with several proplems the 4x4 didnt work ay all so far i have replaced the transfer case motor seemed to be fine when i pushed the button it would come on even low range would light up my problem is that my front tires want pull i have auto hubs so if anybody can help please do thanks mike

Yep, it sounds like the auto hubs.

Long periods of non-use and they stick.

Very easy fix:

Remove the wheel:

Pull the hub off. yes that easy, they just slide off!

One part will remain on the spindle but also just pulls off.

Take note of which way is in. Can't remember; I think flat side in.

Just the two parts as show here with the arrows; the third part in the pic is the bearing nut and will not need to be removed.

Now if nothing is broken (it will be obvious)

Just blast all the crud and grease out with brake cleaner.

DO NOT PACK WITH GREASE.

Use transmission fluid only as lube!

Just a cap full will do.

Reassemble. Done. :D

NOTE: on reassembly put the ring thingy back on the spindle first.

Then make sure the hub easily slides all the way in touching the brake rotor. You may have to turn it to the next lug to get it on. Keep pulling it off and turn to nest lug until it seats all the way in freely.
