Need some help...

I have a 2004 Ford Explorer XLS with 64,000 miles. I just replaced the tires less than a year ago, new rotors this past weekend. It is making a weird noise when backing out of the driveway. When turning left or right it seems to grab/shutter (this also happens when accelerating after being stopped). Also when driving it makes a weird hum noise at times and very slightly pulls to the left. Our local garage referred us to a transmission specialist who is going to look at it on Friday. I just wanted to see if anyone had any guesses as to what it may be.
