We are going on a week of vacation soon and want your suggestions on things to do and see in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and maybe Utah.

As you can tell we really don't have a plan yet :D
Just head north from west Texas and see what catches our attention.

It will be myself and the sons ages 23 and 30.

Can anyone recommend a mild to moderate off road trip ? Maybe something that goes to a ghost town ? We are not heavy into sports looking more for the hiking, canoeing, fishing activities on this trip. Something with lots of scenic views as the boys have never been past Denver.

We are taking the '02 "X" but I wouldn't mind renting a J**P for the day if you know of a killer deal to do.

Nothing is off limits so let's have your recomendation of what to do and see.

You definitely want to go to Ouray, Colorado.
Get a map of the trails, rent a jeep ( 100 bux a day) or use the explorer.
You will see many interesting views, old gold mines, and the town itself has a wonderful hot spring-swimming facility.
Best part is it is colorado, just pull over and camp.

I will edit with something here

I asked about it ( in my Mounty), got some good responses

Also, if you search Ouray, lots of remarks

Have fun

Glacier national and the tetons are amazing, you must go there if you are looking for hiking and ect. Yellowstone is too popular, these are still kinda lowkey and not too touristy. I would also reccommend the oregon coast, but I dont know if you are planning on going that far.

I lived out in montana for a year. Glacier Nat'l Park is a great one to go to. Take the drive through, its beautiful. I was there at this time last year and it was snowing at the highest elevation points of the road. Camping at Glacier would be awesome. Yellowstone is also on the way up there on the wyoming border as someone above mentioned, but it is way too much of a tourist thing with too many people. If you go into Montana and are going up I-15 to go to Glacier, I was in Dillon, MT in the SW part of the state. Great little town, stop by the Dairy Queen over there across from the university if you go by there. I'm friends with the owner Jim, he's a great guy. Beautiful country up there in Montana. I would love to go back there for a vacation someday.
