need to pull some codes

Can someone direct me to the method of pulling codes with a paper clip, or a good thread on reading codes. My check engine light is intermittingly coming on and autozone said 1991 is to old to scan for codes

There are three stickies here: one in the Under the Hood forum and two in the EEC-IV subforum of the Under the Hood forum. I can't remember titles for the one in the Under the Hood forum, but the EEc-IV forum are "Notes on pulling EEC-IV codes" and Brooklynbay's code list thread.

thanks mr shorty, the connectors were actually up by the heater motor on the right side of the x. I will see if any codes come up and post back
