The front of the mockup is made of cardboard that I curved. How can I replicate that in wood? One idea I had was to cut strips and glue them in place. Then I could fill in the gaps with filler and sand smooth.

Thoughts?

Are you foing to be covering the wood? If so you can use MDF and kut kurfs every so often and bend it to shape.

Wetting plywood in warm water allows it to bend easily.

I should have come back to this thread before I started on the job this morning. 🤣

I kerfed the piece, but I didn't go deep enough and when I bent the piece it cracked :(

I'll be giving it another try using tips from the video.

Make the sides and ribs to go from side to side. then get a 4x4sheet of wood veneer and cut to fit. the thickness should be approx 1/64 . which will allow you to bend it for the top curve. glue between each sheet, let dry. then when 4 or 5 layers are dried . it can be sanded ,stained, urathaned, and if wanted. reinforce the rear upper area and put a padded armrest on.

MDF won't take stain. That is what the top and curved piece are made of.
