2013 Explorer Limited
We bought a new Explorer Limited 302A with 2nd row dual captains chairs and console, dual panel moon roof, trailer tow package, voice activated navigation, 20" polished aluminum wheels, rear inflatable belts and all weather floor mats.

We have 1200 kilometers on it so far and absolutely love it! We're still learning how to use all the bells and whistles and we couldn't be happier.

I went outside last night to plug in the block heater, I lifted the hood to get the cord and was greeted with total darkness. Must be a burnt out under hood bulb I thought. Got a flashlight and discovered there is no under hood light. REALLY FORD? $55,000 for a loaded Limited SUV and you cheap out on a 99 cent item? Unbelievable! My base F150 has a under hood light for heavens sake!

For all you Explorer owners make sure you carry a flashlight in the vehicle. Should you ever have trouble or need to check anything under the hood at night you'll need it.

Welcome to the Forum Mikepaul.:wavey:
Congratulations on your new Explorer. To help in answering any future concerns or problems, it would be very helpful to members if you would show in the left margin, the year and model of your Explorer. This would save having to put that in every post. Some answers are model specific.
One of the first things I did was to throw in a small LED flashlight. Also, some models don't even come with a block heater. I have had them in all my vehicles here but haven't used one in 20 years.
Depending upon where you are located, it may be worth looking into getting either the Husky or WeatherTech floor mats. They are 100% superior to the OEM all weather mats. I bought the Husky mats and the rear cargo liner, which is a 'must have' for me.

I had WeatherTech floor mats in my 2010 Flex Limited and highly recommend them. I have a set waiting for my new Explorer if it ever gets delivered.

FYI my Flex didn't have a light under the hood either.

The past few cars I have owned (including Honda) haven't had any hood lights. I have a few florescent work lights I use

Thanks for the welcome. I will definitely look into the WeatherTech floor mats.

I spent 15 minutes in the User CP trying to find where I am supposed to edit the Vehicle Specs and I can't find it. Can someone please tell me where it is?

Mikepaul:

Looks like we may have twin vehicles, (mine is Tri White Plat.).
I 2nd the advice on the WeatherTech mats - especially the one for the rear cargo area.
The beige color looks good with the "sand" interior and the fit is superb.
Just wait until you see how the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, auto parking, etc. etc. work. Pretty amazing vehicle !

Ride on and Happy New Year.

You can enter vehicle specs under Edit Options but I believe that will only then show what you have if someone clicks on Vehicle Specs. Iwent back through mine and the only place I see where I entered 2011 Limited AWD was in Edit Your Details.
You can also put that info in your Signature field.

As for the floor mats, I went with Husky because they covered more of the carpeted area. The front ones come right up and over to the door sill and seem to have a higher lip all around. Not sure if WeatherTech has modified theirs in the same way or not.

Thanks Peter, I found the Vehicle Specs. I'll have a look at the Husky floor mats. Did you get the Weather Beater series?
