2015 Explorer Sport
This is a cut and paste of the post I made in the New Members section. Figured it would get more liked minded views in this section. My apologies to anyone who reads it twice. My wife and I live in coastal NC in the Morehead City/Swansboro area.

I've lurked here on and off over the last couple of years as I have a 2009 SportTrac XLT. Recently bought a 2015 Explorer Sport as my wife's car trading in her 2007 RX350. Got a Ruby Red with the 401A option, moonroof, rear buckets and console. The interior is the Charcoal/Sienna combo. It was a little hard to find. My local dealer made a half-hearted attempt to find one for me optioned as above but it was clear if it wasn't on their lot they weren't too interested. They purportedly found one for me but told me it would be $49,000. I said that seemed kind of high as they had a white Sport on their lot at essentially the same MSRP listed for $45,600. I said I was looking for 9-11% off MSRP. The sales person said they would have to "buy" the car and in turn sell it to me. Maybe, just seemed somewhat unlikely.

Found our Sport at a dealership about five hours away in the Charlotte, NC area. Ended up getting it for about 10% below MSRP. Hope we don't need much, if any, warranty work as there is no way we can take it to the dealer we bought it from.

Now I did look at some Sport specific threads here before buying this vehicle but, if I paid attention to the 79 page "bad smell" thread, the 41 page "leak" thread among a couple of others I'm not so sure we would have made this deal! I'm hoping this is mainly internet amplification but I feel for the folks affected. In the RX Lexus world it was early transmission failure that filled the forums, we never had any problems and owned two RX models.

Hope to find some good info here and be able to contribute to some degree.

Welcome to the Forum ECinEI.:wavey:
Warranty work can be carried out at any Ford dealership. It does not have to be the one you bought it from. I believe that warranty and regular maintenance work is where dealer's profits are realized, so I'm sure any dealership would be happy to have you as a customer. Happy motoring. :)

You should be fine. I have encounter that smell but that was for the first two weeks. Since then I've only made a trip to the dealership to realign the front wheels and oil the door since they were squeaking when you open /close. Besides that, the car runs awesome. No complaints. Enjoy your car!

I'm a 2 week 15 Sport owner. Loving it! I have been smelling the same thing on occasion, almost gone now. But if I can give one word of advice, don't wear flop flops in cold weather with the climate control in Auto and above 23c...you'll roast your right foot off, lol. Cheers and enjoy your Ruby, Mark.
