Well Out at the off road show this weekend I stubled apon a new lift kit.

What is so great about this kit you ask? Well I'll tell you What!

First I love the RCD kit what a great Idea dumping the T-Bars, however what I hate is the drop down bracket in the center  I smack mine now so how does that help?

Well this new system by Dixon Bros. Racing (www.dixonbrosracing.com) has no drop brackets! It's gets rid of the T-bars and goes to a coil over shock and uses Porcshe style CV's for more angle. She is capable of 14" of travel. They also have Cleevis kits for your stering. The only negitive is the cost at about $3500 bucks! However I do belive they sell the CV's seperate as well as other parts of the Kit.

However I did not get a picture of it :(

Looks nice. . .but $3500 for a whopping 3" more droop

Since nothing was actually moved, it appears that all it does is give you more droop. And therefor, the ability to lift it somewhat. I do like what they did with the inner tie rod end though.

Yeah for $3500 I could do a SAS probbaly. I told the guy that if he neede a doner Explorer to try it on (so far it only been on Rangers) I'd be up for it. Besides I talk to RCD and they said they refuse to market there kit to Explorers do to ...and I quote " Those things roll over  on there own" and "we're to affraid of lawsuits" So this would be a great alternitive ;)

That kit is a Long-Travel kit.
It is about 4.5" wider per side. And it uses a 8" coil-over shock.
Also those numbers and price is for the 4wd version.
For 2wds you get about 15" of wheel travel and it cost about $2500
It is an awesome lookin kit and it comes with the shock hoop.

I got pictures of the 2wd kit here they are.
Oh and Stic-O I saw you parking your Explorer in the parking lot and It looks awesome.

Thanks GI ;) I think I saw you truck too wait out past the exit. ....and no I did not pay for the $$$$ parking. I just drove up and a guy was leaveing :D

It's a nice kit but I'm thinking it's designed more for "pre-runner" style Vs. I do more Trail and Rock crawling type stuff. Although it would be really intresting to see how it would do in my enviroment

Yeah I saw the same kit down there as well. One of the guys said it would be 14 inches of travel with 4wd, so I don't know which one it really is.

I believe it gives about 3 inches of lift, which matched with the extra travel seems like a lot of money. If it really is a strong suspension upgrade, it would seem like you would get best of both worlds, who needs low range when you can just jump over the rocks :D.

Oh yeah, and I saw this bad boy on the way out from the parking lot, I know it looks familiar, but from where...

Stic-O you are right it is designed for prerunners. And if you think about it since it is 4.5" wider per side then it would be hard for you to do some of those tight trails.
But this is not an expensive kit it is really cheap for a long-travel kit because other companies want about 4000-5000 for the same thing. The only thing is the 2500 price does not come with coil-overs you have to buy those.

And that was my Explorer way out by the Exit.

Sorry for the long wait guys... Testing is going great with no problems. You would not believe the difference between running in 4wd vs 2wd. Sure 2wd is fun to slide around with, but if you want to go fast, 4wd is the only way to go. It puts you back in the seat!!!

This setup is running 6" Fiberglass fenders, 35" tires, and minimal lift cranked into the Coilovers. The bumper is a bolt-on design that requires no welding or cutting. Im still waiting for fiberglass bedsides...

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll post some more pictures soon.
