Hi Guys. The time has come to replace my auto gearbox. I've had trouble for a while with the box slipping in fifth gear and it finally coughed a load of transmission fluid all down the road when towing my caravan at the weekend. I've tried all the tweeks on the brake bands, fluid additives etc.
Ford THINK they can get me a recon box and torque converter for £845 plus VAT which ain't to bad I suppose.
I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with a recon company and what results they've had? Reading other threads there seem to be loads of mods that can be done on the valve body, so would like these incorporating in the rebuild.
I will be taking the box out myself as Ford want about £900 for labour.
