I have a 1996 Ranger 3.0, I replace both heads with new ones because it was mixing the antifreeze with the oil, after the job was done I started the truck, the engine doesn't miss but I notice that the oil was mixed again with the cooland, any ideas as to what is going on?

Did you check your compression to make sure that you have the head gaskets in properly and did you have the block checked to make sure it wasn't cracked?

No I didn't check the compression and the head gasket were in the correct please when installed, they didn't move. How do I check for a crack block?

That needs to be done with the heads off. Magnaflux or dye penetrant is the usual way.

Did you torque the the heads properly (correct order and to spec)? A leaky intake manifold gasket could also cause the problem.

I'd do a compression check on the motor first to see if you can isolate which cylinder(s) is causing the problem and go from there.

Yes the were torque in order and to 73 ft-pd on the last torque. I will do a compresion test and did I mention that the any of the cylinder were missing after the engine was on after the repair!

Im soory I misspell, none of the cylinder were missing after the engine was on after the repair! It was running fine, just mixed the oil

One more question

I change the oil again and ran the truck, no mix of oil and antifreeze, now I have one last question. When I first but while i was driving and I heard the engine making a little bit of noice then turn the engine off,I crank the engine again and the pressure was back to normal, about 6 month after it did it again, same thing, any ideas what going on? may be the canshaft sinchronizer ? you know that little gear is made out of nylon maybe wearing off.
well any help will be greatly appreciate!!

Thank

Ed
