Ford Explorer off-road usage has increased dramatically over the last three years while SUV sales in general have exploded in the last decade.

"The automaker noted that Ford Explorer off-road usage among the model’s owners has increased a whopping 56 percent over the last three years, despite the lack of an off-road-focused model like the Timberline. Additionally, Ford says that in the last ten years, SUVs have gone from a 36 percent market share to 55 percent in the U.S., while sales have grown from 4.6 million units to 7.8 million across that same time frame."
