There are a lot of cool new features within our forum's new software. I am still finding some myself :D

Here are a few that you may not know about:

Within the Elite Explorer Media Gallery - You can select photos from the gallery to be used as your avatar. This is available to Elite members and Moderators. The software will automatically resize and place your new avatar.

If you have an Amateur Radio Callsign you can now add it to your profile.

Set your Alert Preferences

You can set up External Accounts so that you can log in to the forum with your Facebook or Twitter account. After that you can use the Facebook and Twitter buttons to share content on your external accounts.

The Elite Explorer Media Gallery can store large images that can be shared as wallpaper, desktop backgrounds etc. It will also accept videos that you have stored on : Dailymotion, Facebook, Liveleak, Metacafe, Vimeo, and YouTube.

Additionally photos can be attached to posts from: Dailymotion, Facebook, Liveleak, Metacafe, Vimeo, and YouTube.

If you have found other useful features or have tips for other members please post them below.

Join the Elite Explorers for $20 each year.
Elite Explorer members see no advertisements, no banner ads, no double underlined links,.
Add an avatar, upload photo attachments, and more!

For those who have asked about forcing a desktop view on the mobile phones, I found that is possible to do by merely turning your phone sideways.

The forum is built on responsive design and shows different content based on the width of the screen. If you are running the forum on a desktop with a large, high resolution monitor you would probably want to show the forum in a somewhat narrow window which would bring the forum into a comfortable view.

There is now a "Watch Forum" feature. With this feature you can select whether to be alerted via a forum alert or both forum alert and email alert. You can also select whether to be notified for each new post, or for each new thread.

You can change between forum "Styles" by scrolling down to the bottom of the page, and clicking on the current forum style which shows on the left hand side near the bottom. The default style is "da Blues".

Right now there are two styles available, additional styles will be coming.

I just added a third style choice. "Shades of Gray".

Rick, could you add the link to the old photo gallery on the top bar of the page (maybe near the media link)?

Done. The link is now in the Media tab.

Birthdays can be viewed on the Members Page as well as Notable Members and a few other views:
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?members/

There was another birthday block on the main forum page, but I removed the add on that placed it there. I found that the author had been banned from Xenforo's site and I didn't want to trust his software on here.

Some features of Vb won't be in Xenforo.

Quick question: How do I find the "User CP"?

Just select your username at the top in the navigation bar. That's where all your options are.

Is there a CP or another way to find my threads (other than the search function) :)

Click on your username in the navbar and look for the My Content link.

I'm still learning where everything is as well. @Tbars4 I just found a couple places where you can search for your own threads.

From your Profile Page http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?members/tbars4.63829/ click on the Postings, or Information tabs.

Both of those pages have links that will take you to your threads. It's actually easier to find the link from the Information page. On the Postings page it's a small link below the list of threads.

The old software had a provision for "search this sub forum" , however I do not see a way to do that anymore.

When you go to the built in search box in any subforum (the one in the navigation bar), it has a checkbox that asks if you want to search only that forum.

I've got a question.

Why when I post to a thread I'm subscribed to or, even create a new thread, they do not show up on the "New Post" page?

The software developers have decided that a post that you have created is not new to you, it's just new to everyone else:dunno: I was caught by that one too.

You can see your post using the "Your Content" link in the menu that pops up with your username in the navbar.

The product review section is gone. The company which made it is no longer in business and it doesn't work with this software :(

After Elite Explorer members add media to our Media Gallery you will be able to use that media in any post you make by simply clicking on the camera icon in the post editors navigation bar.

All of your Media will show up and you can select any of your photos or video to "Reuse".
