Hi guys,
I just purchased a '17 Explorer sport, I previously had a base model 2004 explorer, what an upgrade!! So far a really like it. Its loaded with options, rides great and pretty darn quick. Though I plan on doing a livernois kit, lowering it and some different wheels. I just finished install my Escort 9500 ci radar detector and laser jammers. So far an absolutely great suv.

Many members have carried out 'mods' on their vehicles. As a precaution, I suggest that you also familiarize yourself with the Warranty Guide since some of the modifications may affect warranty coverage. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...ck-Warranty-version-3_frdwa_EN-US_09_2016.pdf

Welcome to the forums!

Congrats and nice choice :)
Also good idea with the radar detector, as this beast can get up to speed and beyond pretty darn fast.

You don't even need to click on the link to see what tunes will do to your warranty. This car has more than enough power to get you into trouble. Unfortunately, it's also quite the gas eater.

Thanks guys. I'm well aware of warranty, I've modded cars before in the past, much faster then this! Fortunately I drive a work truck 80% of the time so I won't get to drive it as much as I'd like to. I just got back from a 400 mile camping trip. Was able to carry me, another guy and tons of gear and still get about 21 mpg and that was with me testing 3rd gear pulls and passing slow vehicles, and best part was when the rest of our group showed up and we had to run to town to grab some things we flipped up the rows and comfortably carried 6! Excellent utility vehicle. I just feel it could use a little HP bump, and exhaust. I do wonder if they can tune the steering feel though while in "sport"? I would like it to have a bit tighter feel in the wheel.

Where did you mount the radar detector main unit?

Where did you mount the radar detector main unit?

The main radar detector I mounted in the opening in the front bumper, right under the front camera and ran my wire down under the vehicle and brought it to the main controller, which I mounted under the steering column panel. Oh and for future reference (since it was impossible to find!!) there is a rubber grommet (unused) under the carpet by the "dead pedal".

Welcome! Show us some pictures of the beast once you get your work done on it!

Looks like I will need to find someone who will be able to install and test all the things professionally to make sure everything is working due it's 2K price range. Did you also get the Veil anti laser stealth coating installed?
That stealth coating should make our Sport headlights and taillights look more tinted then they actually are. I have read a lot of positive reviews about this.

I did not do the headlights. I really didn't think the install was very hard, but this is the second car I have done it on and I'm a pretty handy person. I'll sign up for the elite membership and pussy pictures later today.

Nice pics, the main piece could even be hidden behind the cover. I am still reading up on this but my only concern is that I have a white tri coat metalic paint and so far reading, white is the most reflective and installing of 3 heads in front would be needed due to the beast of its size.

This is the 2nd white car I've had it on, and I haven't had any issues with reflection but I haven't dove into it. Now I'm trying to decide what wheels to get, I really like the satin black Velgen wheels.
