2007 Explorer Limited
Bought my wife a 2007 Explorer Limited two weeks ago. Fod emailed me the window sticker today and I notice it said, "Powercode Remote Start *acc". Is there a special sequence of buttons to push to use the remote start. The keyfob is a 4 button style with lock, unlock, rear window, and panic alarm. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ron-O

Guess I'll add a couple pics..

Nice looking EX ! Not sure about your Q... I put an aftermarket remote starter on mine.

Could be that the dealer didn't have the correct key-fob remote for starting and they just programmed a basic one for you? If so, you should call them on this.

I think you can download the user manual do a search!

there is a one button remote that you need to get. prob about 30 at dealer.

there should be a dipole antenna on the windshield.

Where would it be on the windshield?? Looks like I may have to go to the dealer this week and see what they can do.. There is some little black thing (small oval maybe 1" x1.5") velcroed to the overhead console with a wire going under the headliner. Wonder where the control box would be hiding?

Is there any other way to tell if it has the remote start? Can the dealer scan and check it?

no. its supposed to be installed at factory or the dealer if its on the sticker. chance it should have been done at dealer when new and was never done. go back to the dealer and see what they say.

In WV.. I'll look a little better tomorrow. I need to put the HID's in it the mail brought today.. Too bad there's not a manual available online for the remote start. I've found all the others...

Ron,

Are you doing an HID drop in to the existing housings, or are you putting projector beams in? Where are you getting your materials?

I'm doing the drop ins to the existing housings. I'm running a set in my truck and had them in the wife's Cherokee that we traded. They look great and put out so much more light. At least with the Explorer, I can do headights and driver's as HID. I'm using kits from hidextra.com at 5000k. Had good luck with with them.. Bought 6 sets so far for my family. Maybe one of these days, I can switch to projectors.

How did you pick 5000k?

Did you do low beam and high beam kits? Isn't the factory a single bulb for both?

Did you do the fogs?

Usually 4300k are the stock colors. 5000 seems to very white, once you go to 6000k there seems to be a little blue in the lights, around here that will cause you to get a ticket. The bulbs are H13 dual filament. The HID's are low HID and high beam halogen. Basically 2 bulbs in one setup. I run the bi-xenons in my truck and don't like the high beams at all. All the bi-xenons do is tilt the bulb on high beam, not any more light. Although, with HID's you really never need high beams. The drivers are 9145's. I have 5000k H10's which are basically 9145s. I was going to install everything today but it's a little cold in the garage (20 degrees, maybe 30 with the turbo heater). Once done I'll take pics.

pic's

how did install come out any pic?
