I installed my new CARR Lightwing yesterday with 2 new 100W ProComp lights. The Lightwing is a license plate frame that incorporates mounting points for 2 lights. I may get day pics of the wing if y'all want.

My digicam isn't the best, but I took an assortment of pics. On the front currently I have my stock headlights, Pilot 55W fogs, Procomp 100W driving lights, knight rider assembly, and the Apillar spotlight.

wow.. that is bright.. hope to see some daytime pics

alec, where did you order the light bar from?

Ryan

Alec, how did you mount it? I thought about getting one of those, but wasn't too sure if the bumper was strong enough to support it.

Stylin' Concepts. I will never order from them again unless I have to:

The stock plate mounting holes were incorrectly spaced, and the plastic bumper cover got in the way. So I drilled 2 new holes through the bumper cover and the bumper and got 2 new grade 5 bolts and hardware to secure the assembly to the bumper. Shaking the Lightwing shakes the truck. If I hit anything short of a solid steel bumper with this thing I'm not on the damaged end ;)

EDIT: So the 2 top bolts holding the plate on are actually holding the entire assembly on. The bottom 2 bolts just hold the plate to the lightwing.

It's like a "lighter" version of "Vegas":D

Looking Good Alec!!

Robb

Alec, that looks *****ing.
I approve.

Looks really good Alec. Are those the "long range" type lights? They look like they would really "light up the night".

Good choice in lights. I love my procomps, same ones you got. Bright as hell, fun to play with friends day or night. And not expensive either. Mine are starting to rust a little on the top, after about 4 years of abuse. Nothing fresh paint or herculiner cant fix.

Thanks for the comments. The 3 bright white lights are all spot-type lights. The 2 ProComp ones do throw light out either side starting at about 50 feet away. The ProComps are about 4x brighter than my 55W Hella 500s were.

Looks good but...

The lights are excellent. You just gotta change the bar. There are way better bars out there that will look good in your X. Check out Manik for example.

...and those tiny yellow lights!... I don't know...:(

Just one man's opinion.:)

noo, i like the lights in the bumper

Well that's the look I was going for: no large grille guard, just a solid light mount. As for the yellow fogs, they've served me very well for 4+ years and I think they look good.

Also, that bar was relatively inexpensive.

I've been considering the same thing, but was afraid it would look pretty ghetto... I dunno, I like the safari bars but they keep the lights too low, and mounting on the bumper on '99's is pretty hard to do permantly... I dunno Alec, you may have influenced me to spend $$$ once again... How happy are you with the looks of the light wing? It looks pretty ghetto on that Chevy truck, but definately better on your X.

EDIT: OK... so I just found this for $63 on (dead link) What do y'all think, polished aluminum or black (keep in mind I have the slightly metal flaky silver Sport bumper that matches the Sport trim, so black will stand out, but so would polished)

EDIT 2;) Alec, how do you like these 100W lights? Are they the driving, long range, or flood style? Do you think they would be too wattage for use only with the high beams? I guess I might just get the Hella 500 fogs so i can use em with lows or highs and still the the look of off road lights ~ i really don't need to see 1 mile down the road very often. (wanna sell me your Hella 500's? :D)

You can have my Hella 500s. No wiring, painted covers, and the 2 bolts style mounting system instead of the single bolt mount (which wouldn't work with the lightwing). $25 shipped.

2 bolt mounting system? Huh? If they won't work I'm thinking I might just get some KC Daylighters or some Pro Comp 100W like yours (although I don't like the blue rubber gaskets).

I recommend getting some new lights, my Hella 500s aren't that good anymore.

NOTE: about mounting the lights: The holes in the Lightwing for the light studs were a little too small and I had to drill and file them out slightly. Not a big deal, just thought I should note this.

Alec, I feel the need to designate you with some sort of title now that you are catching up in lighting to ol' Vegas. How does "Dr. Candlepower" sound? LOL.

I don't have as much light as some other members, but do like lots of light. Hmmm, all the extra lights I have:

front fogs
procomp 100s
apillar
knight rider light
2 aux reverse lights
aux taillamps on rear bumper

That's about it, not too much really :)

But Dr. Candlepower is cool :D
