New low profile led lightbar

Axixtech has just released their brand new low profile led lightbar. It's called the Torrent. The Torrent LED Lightbar offers the amazing ability to produce dual colors for warning and traffic control. The rear of the lightbar can be configured to display red and/or blue for the primary warning signal, and switch to amber for traffic control. Yes, it is manufactured overseas, in Taiwan, not china. I've been handling Axixtech for years and they offer superb quality. Take a look and get a hold of me if you have any questions.

For anyone that uses their Explorer for plowing or construction work, this is a great, low cost alternative to the big brand names.

WOW, those light bars are expensive. I didn't realize how much so. Especially considering how simple they usually are to make. 90% of the LED ones I have seen use either Lumileds Superflux or Lumileds Luxeon I's. A few I have seen use some of the brighter Luxeon series, but not common . My guess is a similar situation here. Likely, they are just using two different LEDs in one housing. I would like to see one using the new Nichia Cool White LEDs (INSANE efficiency from a Superflux package) and a filter. It is a cool idea though to integrate the amber LEDs in there so that it has dual function. Not difficult to implement but a nice simple idea.

EDIT: Looking at some of their stuff online, it appears they may use either of the above or even the Lumileds Luxeon Rebel, which is an awesome super small LED with some insane output (but so so efficiency).

Hey Responder, fancy seeing you here.

Anyway, I know the Axixtech guy from another forum, he's a great guy, and the products are spectacular. On par quality-wise with the bigger named brands, but for a whole lot cheaper. Great customer service too.

Aparently, I know very little about the prices of light bars. LOL Not suprising since I am a chemist, just surprised at the price, I would have assumed 300-500 would be typical range. Oh well, learn something new everyday.

The two different colors come from the same LEDs. By applying different voltage they produce the two different colors.

Interesting, usually dual color LEDs aren't that bright. I'll need to look and see what he is using.
