new manual hub question?

i have a question about my new manual hubs.
can i drive with them locked in. do i still have to back up 10 feet after i unlock them? i sure do like them and they work great!

I just put manual hubs on my 92 about 3mos ago and love them. I drive 35 miles to and from work each day and have left them locked several times. At 65 to 70 mph I loose gas mileage and theres additional wear on the front drivetrain components, but besides that they work fine. I've punched it into 4wd at about 50mph before but wouldn't try it any higher. Never had to reverse to unlock or get out of 4wd, just one good turn after I disingage usually gets rid of the wheel binding. Hope that helps.
