Explorer 2019 Limited
hello to everyone and greetings from south america

just bough a very low mileage explorer 2019 limited with the 2.3 ecoboost engine. I had a 2008 explorer on the past as well as a fiesta st so I’m not new to the brand. Im very happy with my purchase and have had no issues whatsoever. I’m hoping to get many trouble free miles out of it.

I have two questions, hope you people can help me.

1. car came without any plastic engine cover. Last owner (she bought it new from the dealer) says she does not remember the car ever having one. I know this makes no difference function wise but I’ll like to have all the original accessories. I read somewhere that the plastic cover was removed from the factory in 2019 2.3 ecoboost models. Is this true?

2. last owner never made any class of updates to the sync system. When I hook the truck to my home wifi and I check, there are OTA updates available but when I try to download them, it never gets past the first file, and never actually downloads anything. I tried a manual update using the usb drive method but nothing happens when I plug the usb in the port. I’m sure I followed all the instructions. I tried multiple times with different usb drives. Not sure if there is a trick or something else I’m unaware of.

best regards

Welcome to the Forum.
OTA updates will only work on the 6th gen (2020+) Explorers. When downloading the update files did you download them to the computer first and then transferred them to a USB drive?

You need to follow the instructions on the Sync my ride site, it tells you how to unzip and transfer the files over to the right folder on your USB drive to properly update your Sync 3 ssytem.
