Have had a 1995 XLT 4WD for 6 years, almost 100,000 miles, bought it from a friend who took it to the dealer every 5,000 miles. Added Explorer Express anti sway bars, Edelbrock shocks, Frozen Rotors and Hawk HPS pads, Borla exhaust, Foam cone air filter that fits into the factory housing and synthetic fluids all around with regular flushes. It runs great and only has a little rust on the frame, mostly around the radiator area. Now that I need to replace the ignition lock cylinder, I thought to join and learn more about the procedure than is in the Haynes manual. I already got a new lock cylinder, had it re-keyed and plan to install it this weekend.

Welcome to the site.

Pictures are always good. :D

it took me about 4 minutes to replace the3 lock cyl in my 88, put the key in, put something in the little hole that locky the cyl in place, pull and you are done.
Thats if the 95 is still similar?? not sure my 96 still works! hahaha

welcome

Thanks everyone. I was just searching and found instructions on replacing the lock and the sticky on programming remotes. I jsut got a couple more on ebay. Then searched more and found the probable cause of my intermittent ABS light. Probably a bad rear sensor. More work to do this weekend.

You are my new favorite person on this site. :p:

You'll find just about anything about your explorer on here.

I should be warn you that this site is very addictive for some and can cause extensive modifications, the reduction of funds and cause marital problems (in some cases) if used properly. :) :D

Look at me, I was nearly stock when I got started less than a year ago.

Welcome to the site, there is alot of information on here that you should find very useful.

Thanks, wish I had found this forum earlier. It is the best Explorer site on the internet. I belong to www.probetalk.com as I also have a 1994 Mazda MX6 LS, the Probe GT twin, and their site is set up exactly like this one, so getting around and searching is old hat. Now to search if there is any way to bleed the ABS without going to a shop.

Well...I think people actually search, but when they get 7 pages of threads as a result, they get lazy and don't want to read through all of it. Then they ask a question that was probably answered in the 4 thread on page one, but they stopped at thread #3. :D

Again, welcome and enjoy.

I think I am modified out as I did them when I bought it in 2000, see my first post. Now I am trying to keep it alive. I don't drive it that much anymore, but it is great for hauling stuff, long trips and in the snow. Actually, I have a high flow MAF sensor that needs to be installed....but due to some apparent installation fit issues I have been putting it off. Maybe another search will help.

welcome clutchless as youve already found out this site is awsome its got everything you could ever need & then some, But that Mod bug is always lurkin around just waitin to bite ya : )
