Thanks for taking the time to read this. I just purchased a 95 X and I am having dificulty bleeding the rear brakes. The 70 yr old man I purchased it from said they needed to be bled, he replaced a line in the rear. Well I got it home and have been at it for 3 days, 4 hours a day and cant get them bled. I figured it was the master cylinder so I replaced that, I also bled it before installing it. I also went and bought a vaccum bleeder. I still cant get them bled properly, only a trickle of fluid now and then. I thought it might be the power booster but with the truck not in the run position I have a hard pedal, if I put the key to the run position the pedal goes soft, to the floor. What else could be causing this? Do I need to have them power bled from a shop and if so what is an average price for that? Thanks again for the help im just a little confused and frustrated.

got abs on it, , you need to cycle the abs pump to get all the bubbles out,,

all the pumping and vacuum in the world can't cycle the pump,
might be worth the few bucks to take it to a shop to get them bled,,

Thanks for the tip!

I've been suffering from a similar problem on my 1997 Tahoe for some time. I was just getting ready to replace the power booster. I'm old school (63 years old) and didn't even think about the ABS. Thanks for saving me the time and cost of an unnecessary replacement!

If the pedal is squishy feeling then the abs module has air in it. Be very careful and find a dirt or gravel road and mash the pedal a few times. It should pump most of the air out of the system. Brakes should firm up then bleed them 1 more time.

I wish that would work for me, I dont have any pedal, it goes right to the floor.
