New Prerunner bumper for the Mounty

I just noticed , in the front shot, the angle matches the angle of the Mounty grill perfectly---very nice touch, like it was planned

Ok I found this bumper to work great in my situation. You need a 3" bodylift for it to fit perfect. Its a prerunner style bumper made for a TJ / YJ. I cut the front horns off the frame along with about 2"-3" of frame. This bumper fits on the end of the rails snug. The only thing holding it on at this second is its welded on to the frame at the bottom. I plan on attaching it bry drilling a 5/8 hole though the bottom of the bumper, through the frame then though the top then intalling a grade 8 5/8 bolt on each side. It has 4 light tabs and 2 mounts for D-rings. I picked it up for around 300$ but I am not sure of the brand. I love the improved clearance and look of it.

I seen that bumper for sale before, but I can't find one now. Summit had them http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=smt-76611 , but now it says they are not available. Where did you get yours? I should have bought it when I saw it. I like the way it looks on your truck, guess now I'll just have to bend up my own.

looking at the pictures again, it almost looks like it would work without a body lift or maybe just a 2"

looks to me like you would have to trim the grill a little if there was no body lift

It wouldn't fit the body as tight but you could just extend the frame a few inchs to get one on without a body lift at all.

You would only have to take the bumper mounts off and not cut any of the frame off just to keep it spaced out. Basically 2"-3" forward. I don't think it will look too hot without a body lift but to each his own.

what are you going to do to hide all the ugly stuff you can easily see now that the bumper is not hiding it such as lift blocks and like where the front fender stops? just curious if you havemore plans for it. i must admit that was a pretty amazing idea you had to even try it .

he could make some gap guards out of that pond linning stuff....BTW Booming the bumper looks great

Well when funds become availible a winch is going to be where my lisence plate is followed by a skid plate right below it. Since I took the pics I have painted everything black behind there and added a set of lights which hides it pretty good. WhenI make fenderwells I'll probibly extend them into the front area some to cover the gap.

that bumper looks sweet, the lift looks good too. i'll have to swing by eta some time and see it in person.

Not at eta anymore. Me and bossman couldn't work out an agreement on $$. I'm doing side work now and have a part time job in the kitchen at Locks Pointe in chesepeake.

o well whatever works when i start working again after the football season is over im gonna start saving for some serious upgrades for my explorer. we should all start posting on that virginia explorer thread and get some trips to that dam neck spot.

They just started construction on damn neck this week :(

welll... **** is there anything leagal left over here on the south side? i was wheelin at this spot in poqouson which i always heard was illeagal but we were out there with a bunch of trucks and a cop walked out there and just yelled at one guy for being too loud(open header) but i don t think he even got a ticket, just a lecture. if you and dominican and everyone want to go check that out, i think we would be ok.

theres another spot out in sandbridge/pungo area. its not really big and only a few holes that normal trucks can go through and theres others where if you aint locked and got 36 or bigger swampers you aint making it. Boomin has been out there.

thats cool id like to check that place out some time. is it leagal i dont really like doing illeagal wheeling but desperate times call for desperate measures

Now c'mon guys. I dont want to be the adult here, but illeagal wheeling is what gets public OHV parks closed, and more ammunition for the greenies to ban it all together. Just try to follow the Tread Lightly! campaign.

no its not illegal there are no posted signs anywhere. And my buddy have been out there when the cops came and all they said was to keep the noise down since one of the spots backs up to a couple houses.

yeah i understand, that is why i was asking. i dont support illeagal wheeling but as for public ohv parks, there isnt anything within 3 hours of our area around here we mainly have to rely on private property with permission from the owner. so we are always trying to find places that we know ARE Leagal close to us
