I had to replace my radiator, and while I was at it, decided to re-think the mounting of my fan. Since the new rad was out of the truck, and I had to remove the fan to get the old rad out, I installed the fan onto the new rad directly. I drilled two holes thu the flange around the radiator core that matched the holes on the bracket on the fan. Used the same bolts that held the fan on the first time, and voila, it looks like a stock installation! Pics will follow.

cool , is the fan eletic or does it run off the old stuff? and how much was the new fan/ rad.?

subscribing!

Electric. The rad was 140 shipped to my door in less than 24 hours. Radiators.com. Fan was about 150 I think. I'd had it so long waiting to be installed the first time (last spring), and then this time w/ improved mounting locations.

looks good! I love electric fans! I have a brand new radiator too due to mine rusting out plus a black magic 150. Good stuff!

Too bad I couldn't get that fan into mine. I have the 5.0L V8, and there just wasn't enough room to clear it.

good thing i saw this, i was starting to look at them  gotta replace alternator first, and engine ,tranny. alt. bearing is starting to go bad , and is louder then the wrist pin in my engine knocking

From the radiator to the water pump stud I measured 3.5 inches. Just an inch shy of the fan's depth. I went with the Derale instead.

Funny, I was looking at the Derale controllers on Amazon.com! Flexalite is not returning any of my emails, and I know my unit is out of warranty, but I was hoping to get a free one out of them. Derale controllers are all over amazon and eBay and they're not expensive. What's your take? Yea, or nay?

On my F-150, I have a Troyer kit. It is actually just a set of Derales sold by Troyer. I like it. Haven't had a problem with it. As controllers go, it either works, or it doesn't.

Is the Derale controller your looking at a progressive or soft start controller?

If not, you can use a Hayden adjustable controller too. They are inexpensive, and so far, working great for me. Also, they are carried at Most auto parts stores and even speed shops. That way if you do ever kill one you can get another quickly.

They make with with the Radiator probe (push in) or 1/8 NPT fitting. I'm personally using the push in probe one, but I have an 1/8" NPT one sitting here. I don't think I can put a temp sending unit adapter into the lower radiator hose as the angles of the hose aren't conducive to that.

If you want fancy, but not progressive, you can look at the Dokata Digital pac-2000 ($200ish) Its not soft start but has fan delay start (so it doesn't run until your truck is on and the alternator charge is stable) and it can run it after you shut the truck off for a set amount of time if its already running. I've installed that into a friends f-150.

Nice install. Did the fan come with those brackets?

I know its a little off subject but how does your computer like the 410 cam? Did it require a tune?
