2003 Explorer XLT
Replaced the OEM tires on my wife's '05 XLT 4x4 with Bridgestone Dueler HT's. It was quiet with the old tires but now sounds like a 1978 Chevy with 33" mud tires. Very loud hum and a numbing buzz from the steering wheel. It has had an alignment and the right front hub is new. I am taking it back to Sears where the tires were purchased, just want to make sure I'm not missing something else before I blame the tires and have to fight with the store to replace them. The noise is audible from about 15 mph and gets louder with speed. I know that's classic symptoms for a bad hub. Maybe I should replace the left one too? Just seems odd that it was quiet until the new tires were installed. Help!

it is the tires. i have the same ones and they are LOUD!!! i have them on my aviator which is much quieter than the explorer, and i hear these tires ROAR.

Actually, it wasn't the tires. The driver's side hub was far worse than the passenger side. No wonder it was so loud! I could barely turn it by hand when I got it off. Now feels (and sounds) like it did when it was new. :)

Bridgestone Duelers Rock!
If it ever snows you will see! Go to tirerack.com and check the feedback. They do have "noise canceling technology" I would trust my life on them after having 2 sets in last four years. Now i am pissed because I had to turn my company 2005 trailblazer in and picked up an Explorer XLT. :D Dont mind the model change just miss my Duelers.
