hat would cause tranny to chatter in reverse when on incline?Could it be needs an adjustment, oil change service?? Also drivers seat power wont move seat bac/forth but adjusts up/down etc.Where can motor replacement for seat be obtained?Car has 176k miles but appears to be well cared for however I have no access to service records. Any help will be appreciated, this car is for my Grandaughter, want to make it as trouble free as possible, thanks,Bruce in Sun City,Az

Ford transmissions tend to chatter/shutter when the trans fluid is too old. Try doing a trans service. As far as the seat, remove it check the motor. Pretty easy to do. 4 bolts holding it to the floor and a T50 torx bolt on the seat belt track. Then you can flip it over and check for power at the motor. If you need to replace the motor, try a salvage yard first.

Note: Depending where the seat is now, getting at the bolts may me a little tricky.

Koda2000, thank you for reply will go ahead w/plan to service tranny, really appreciate input! Thank's,Bruce

Catch 22; you have to remove the seat to check/remove the seat motor but you need the seat motor operating to get to all the bolts that hold the seat in.

Hopefully it's just the switch.

You can remove the bolts in the back with the seat all the way to the rear with a closed end wrench, a ratcheting type makes it easier. Work up both bolts alternately and the seat can be lifted up making access easier (after the front bolts are backed out).
