- 94 Ranger
Hey everyone,
I am the new proud owner of a 94 Ranger, which has seen better days. Basically my first order of business is driveline, so I've sourced a used Explorer trans (5-spd) 75K, but used back-n-forth at job site, plus the tcase which my guess hasn't seen much action. 800 Bucks including the install. I havent "shopped around," and this deal is through a friend. Im hesitant though.
My question is basically "What to do." The vehicle is primarily off-road (rocks) but still street driven, insured, used normally, etc. No wild swaps
The thing about the truck is the gearing, uh, sucks, so this would be the time to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT (other than complain..) Klune gives me the same line over and over "next crawler box will be for the Ranger" Yeah thanks. Does anyone have any knowledge of trannies (5-spd please) that will fit/work? Klune's crawler bolts to 5 bolt Ford T-cases or something like that..its been awhile since I checked (maybe its the 6 bolt, point is, its the tcase we all dont have). Maybe older style F-150 5-spd + tcase out of I6 Truck, or am I an idiot? I can put a lift on a truck, but I cant spell drivelyne.
Im aware of the Atlas "solution" but for that cash I can train a team of monkeys to pull me up that waterfall...
Thanks for reading the book I just wrote, Im open to all suggestions, I have $1500 budegted (is that a word?) and the "4x4 shops" here install chrome light bars for big chevy trucks and thats about it.
