after managing to clean out and put together the top end of my motor from the pistons up, i replaced the fuel filter and filled her up. i didnt notice that the gasket from the old oil filter was still installed on the truck when i put the new filter in. i didnt think about it when i was muscling it in either.
the first time i fired it up, it died. i didnt hear the super pressurized splash of oil everywhere until i fired it up the second time..
needless to say the few rags i had on hand were not enough to clean up the massive mess i made. but my brother in law had a good laugh saying "at least we know the bottom end is cleaned out now!" some lessons are best learned the hard way i guess. because i will never do that again..
always make sure your gasket comes off too!
