2003 Explorer XLT
Hi guys, I'm new to the board and it looks like this board is full of god information.

I'll be buying an '03 XLT for my wife in the next week or so and I have a few questions.

1. When buying a new Explorer, is there anything specific to look for or mention to the dealer before the transaction is complete.

For example, when I bought my last new car, a '96 Impala SS, the guys on an Impala board gave me a list of "known" problems with these cars coming off the production line and I was able to have the dealer repair these before I took the car off the lot.

Technical question:
Is it physically possible to install a 3rd row into an SLT? If not, why?

Thanks in advance to all those that reply.

Welcome to the board... I can't answer your question because I'm not up on the 02's and up yet... As for your third row seating question I believe that the third row seat is an option on all of the 02+ 4 doors...

Sorry about that, the SLT is the Durango which I was also looking at.

The question should have been can the third row be installed on an XLS?

The reason I ask is because the '03 XLS is a steal today, but it doesn't have the third row. I have heard from some people that it is not possible to install the third row in the XLS, only the XLT and up.

If you could install the third row, I would buy an XLS which you could get today for like 22k brand new and then install the third row by buying the parts from Ford.

Sorry for the confusion.

I was wondering if you were thinking Dodge there for a second... As for the XLS think I didn't know that... Whats the price jump to go up to the XLT with the 3rd row seating???

I cant answer your question, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE impalas...very awesome rides.

Oh yeah, what he said...

BTW, I've heard that some are SCed, is that correct or have I been misinformed???

I know there was one at the Super Chevy Show here a few years back that had the Impala record for horsepower. It was something like 758 or so rear wheel squirrels, I cant remember the type of blower it had though, needless to say it was FAST and looked stock as it could be.

Thanks for the replies.

GaSouthern1:

Tha '96 Impala was an awesome machine that with a few hundred dollars in mods jumped over 300 horses. I had her for a year and a half and sold her to start saving for a house. You could mash the gas and just sit there watching her burn tires. An expensive hobby at almost $200 a tire.

Heath: What does SCed mean?

Heath, sorry, I didn't answer your question.

An '03 XLT with a 3rd row will go for 27ish. I personally spoke to a dealer who sold an XLS last week for 21 and a half thousand.

Ford is giving 72 months 0% interest on the '03.

I used to have a 1965 Impala.

Don't ask.

GOD I miss that car :(

In HS my buddy had a 63 Imp... Man was that car fast fast fast... Only one other car in town would beat it... (we lived in a small town)...

The sticker on our 03 XLT with third seat, dvd, completely loaded was 38k. :)....

Not like that's what we paid for it but hey you know lol

You/your wife will absolutely love it, It's leaps and bounds better than my '96. An Awesome vehicle.
