I understand this topic is subjective... I am in need of a new set of shoes for my '13 Sport. I have narrowed my selection down to the Nitto NT421Qs or Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires. Original Sport rims and I will stay with the stock 255/50r20 size unless there is a compelling reason to go wider (i.e. 275/45r20). I live in the PNW, so wet weather handling is a priority. Opinions welcome.

Yokohama; http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=Parada+Spec-X#RatingsReviews

Nitto; not listed on tirerack.com. 1010tires has this tire but no reviews. The NT421Q is a true all-weather tire as shown by the tread pattern. It is not one of the "so called" all seasons.

I had the Parada Spec-X on my Explorer and found them to be a great tire although I used dedicated Winter tires. I put the Yokohamas on the day I picked the Ex up from the dealer.

Nittos

I put the 275 45R20 nittos you are talking about on my Limited in may and in August did a tour of the mountains of BC and to Vancouver island. I ran the tires in 38C temperatures, crazy rain at 120 kph, and speeds upto 150 kph. These tires handled the wet roads awesome, four runners were hydoplaning and tahoes on the side of the road waiting for the rain to ease. The wider tires IMO look better and handle better. But the tires did produce some odd humm at 120 kph on some newer black pavement, slow down or speed up and the sound disappeared. Overall, the Nittos are a BIG improvement over the OEM offering. As for snow, no idea, i have already put on my winter rims and Blizzaks.

Are you sure you are talking about the same tire? I think the one the OP mentioned is fairly new. It is mentioned as being an All Weather tire, not to be confused with a so called all-season, meaning that you don't require Winter tires because of it's unique tread pattern.
My Blizzaks were put on 3 weeks ago.

I decided to place an order for the Nitto NT421Qs in the stock 255/50r20 size. They will take about a week to arrive. I will update in a few weeks after driving on them for a while.

My tires are Nitto NT421Q, installed April 22 at 34,000 km and I put on 13,000 km before changing over to my Blizzaks.

Can you post a pic to see how they look with the OEM 20" rims????

I know this isn't what you asked for but this is a picture showing the unique tread pattern that makes it an All Weather tire.

Without knowing the compound of the NT421Q, i would not call it a true all weather tire like the Nokian WRG series which uses a special low temp rubber and also has the mountain snowflake symbol to stated its rated for severe winter conditions. I think the NT421Q would handle snow better than most all season tires, but I have no experience with the Nitto, but have run Nokian WRG2 on my Escape.

I have put my summer tires into storage, so while I could show a picture of the tires and rims, it would not be on the explorer.

The "All Weather" description came from some of the Internet sites I looked at. All the true tires with that description seem to have similar types of 'weird' treads to account for the different conditions. Could not find any mention of the 'snowflake' symbol.
In any case, my Blizzaks should last me several Winters with the amount of driving I do.

I have the nitto nt421q on my 13 xlt with the 20 inch polished wheels. Tires are 265/50/20 size. It is a decent tire in snow and rain. I rotate every 5k, I am at just under 41k on these tires and they are at wear bars, ready for new set. I am looking at some other options now in same size.

I know it's not what your choice is but also might wanna consider Michelin Premier LTX for wet weather.

Supposably absolute favorite in wet weather according to reviews on TireRack (check their test video) and other sites. Costco has them at cheapest price as it is plus $70 off when u buy all 4. I just installed them today thats why I know it all :) Haven't driven much yet to swear on them but I was going by online reviews just like you seem to be doing.
