Hi: (140,000 miles)
Just started not shifting into 3rd..... will not go into 3rd by accelerating...she will keep accelerating all the way to red-line and not shift, but trucks speeds up - so not slipping, just not shifting.
But if you let it rev up to 2,500 - 3,000 rpm and lift foot off the accelerator (Quick blip off throttle) She will up-shift... might be missing 3rd and going straight into 4th.
Will occasionally flash "Check Transmission" and also flash the "OD" light on the dash... very quick flashing.
if you shut the truck off and restart.... the "OD" and "Check Transmission" light will stay off until it has a bad shift attempt to 3rd.
Rest seems to work well, OD works and "OD off" button works until a bad shift.
Does this sound like a bad solenoid, bad servo, bad band or bad servo....?
History:
1) Ford replaced the valve body under warranty due to a hissing noise - because of a passage sizing defect. (Probably 80,000 miles ago - no pan drop since then, so not fluid change since then)
2) Has had the mild 1-2 shift flare for a long time, so I assume this is the servo bore wear issue.... does wear on this bore affect the pressure for the 2-3 shift servo.
