No 5th gear

Tranny shifts great but I have no 5th gear. When I push the O/D button, the light does not come on and it won't shift into 5th gear. Took the column cover off and looked over the wires but no problems found. I've heard about the wires breaking or shorting out but I can't find anything. Can a burned out light bulb cause a no 5th gear. I'm stumped.

Problem Solved... It turned out to be corroded connections. Took the switch apart and the copper terminals were tarnished. Took some sandpaper and cleaned the 4 terminals. Put it back together, plugged it in, and waalaa it worked.
