newb here, just posted an intro.
I bought a '94 Explorer with a bad trans, replaced it with a Pick a Part (PAP)unit (front pump seal leaker), then put in a used one from a full serv, salvage yard. All is fine except no Park. Reverse ok and counted 4 forward gears shifting and watched the tach change each shift. When placed into Park, it's a roller. Currently on a sloped driveway with the parking brake on and a wheel chock.

First trans had hardware (band piceces) in the pan, none in the PAP one, Salvage one has nice looking fluid and no parts in the pan.

Had to swap in the trans tail section before the second install.

Need help, thanks in advance,
Greg

I had An Issue Where My Park Paw Or Claw Stopped Catching , Never Figured it out Until I Broke the main shaft in that trans , When I replaced it With a Used Trans Park Worked Fine ! , Front Pump Seal leak , but Still Shifts Properly ! , Welcome to The Site Great Place Here ! , Hope You Get It Figured out , I Went 5 years With No Park And It Was annoying !

You need to check that the park pawl is in the correct location. Do a search on parking pawl.

The shift linkage may be out of adjustment. It is pretty easy to fix. Check if that's the cause by unhooking the linkage at the tranny end and manually turning the selector to the park position. If you need details on recalibrating the linkage let me know.

Park works now!!! Thanks!!!!!

Ok, got it done, PIA.

The guy that sold me the used trans, did not include the tailshaft housing, so we had to take mine off the old one. Long story short is that the parking prawl was probabgly scrapped wioth the old trans. Bought a new parking prawl and installed it, the rod and spring.

Before driving we have put in the trans twice now and removed the tail section. transfer case for the prawl.

Good news is that I ran the codes from this site, replaced the parts from the junkyard, and it passed smog.

Thanks all for the help,
Greg
