I have a 1999 explorer. I went to back it out of the driveway this afternoon, I heard a 'clunking sound' which appeared to come from the rearend (not sure) and ' no reverse'. It will drive forward but it will not engage in reverse. It was towed to a shop who basically said that if the reverse is gone, than there is nothing that can be really done without spending big $$. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this is truly the case or if there is a possibility that there might be a cheap solution available.
