no sound out of speakers

96 xlt explorer. stereo is on, but no sound comes out of any of the speakers. looked at the amp under the back seat and didn't see any blown fuses. any ideas?

Best way is to use an Oscilloscope to verify the Pre-Amp Outputs for the Head Unit (Radio) at the Amp Inputs. If there is a waveform present on the inputs to the Amp when the Radio is on with a CD, the problem is local to the Amp. If no waveform is present the issue is the Head Unit.
