i just had this same problem turned out to be a combo between the old belt and the idler pulley. if you take the belt off and turned all of the pulleys by hand. you should be able to feel witch pulley is bad if any. or you can try belt dressing as a quick fix

how would i know what pullys are bad?

take the belt off and turn the pullys by hand you will feel if there is a bad pulley

Are you sure it's not a timing chain rattle, belts usually make noise all the time. Timing chain rattles on cold starts are common with the 4.0

Remove the belt check all pulleys the belt drives.
1. Alternator
2. Idler Pulley
3. Tension Pulley
4. Power Steering
5. Water Pump
Here is what to do. Spin each pulley and listen for grinding noise.
Note: Power Steering pulley will not turn as free as others due to slight pressure in pump housing.

Had the squeaking on my 05, shop says it's the alternator, and they are replacing that. $325. :(
