This is my first post...been a lurker for a long time now though...just now had a problem i couldn't figure out from reading posts on this forum. Great forum by the way, excellent people on here.

The situation setup...I have a '92 x w/95000 miles on it. I installed an 3" intake and the bbk 66mm a couple of months ago. For about a month after the installation, the explorer worked better than ever. However, lately it's been running like crap. It seems like it wants to stall whenever it's not in park or drive. It's only actually stalled on me once when i was backing out of the driveway on a cold day(we do have those here in orlando =P). But the x chugs a lil' and the charge gauge jumps around (until i put it into drive then it fixes a bit). There's no smell of coolant leak and there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust...also there is no CEL.

Seems like a vacuum leak...though i can't find one. Cleaned the maf and iacv (could've used a q-tip but didn't, so it wasn't CLEAN clean). The starter was only replaced over the summer of '06. Battery was replaced November of '05.

If anyone could help me out, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

I guess i'm going to replace the battery cables this weekend, unless someone can come up with another idea. Not sure if it'll help, but we'll see i suppose.

Usually if u have a vacuum leak it will run high, mine was at 2500 rpm when i go to shift it would rev up to tehre i later found 3 vacuum leaks.. But if u do feel that it may be one, go to an auto shop and get the vacuum system fogged, just put foogy air in the lines, and where the foggyness comes out, is where you have a leak.. sorry i cant help you out more.. Cheers Mike

Ah ok, thanks for the reply. It definately doesn't have a high idle. When it's at idle or in reverse the battery gauge drops and the rpms drop to where it wants to stall. (well, when you first start the car...the longer you drive it the better it seems to get, just never fixes) But once again thank you very much for your help.
