2006 Eddie Bauer
have code 1742 or possibly code p0742

Forgive me, I used to have an explorer, but now have a 2006 Expedition Eddie Bauer and need held.

Just had the transmission rebuilt because the torque converter went caput.

With the new transission, It runs fine, but when cruising , all of a sudden the OD light flashes. I took it back in and we got code 1742. The shop has been good to work with. They tried the simple things first,

Replaced lock out cellinoid. Did not fix it.
Replaced the valve housing, Did not fix it.

After this one day the truck did strang thing in third gear. Reving high and bottoming out. Brought it in, could not duplicate the problem. They increased the pressure. Third has not been a problem again, but the light still comes on.

I am bringing it back on Monday, but wanted to see if I could get some info.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

they think they fixed it. They broke it all down again. Turns out a gasket in the torque converter was a little thin on one side causing leaking and casuing the problem. If in charleston SC , Affordable Transmission was great to work with and they stuck to it until the problem was fixed. It is driving like a dream, I pray it keeps working.

Reminded me of this:

relayed to me as a gasket, but I concur it was more likely a seal or o ring or something along those lines
