Ok everyone,
We all have SOME issues with MFT / Sync and we all have good ideas on how to make it better. The problem is that everyone posts seperate threads on their issues. My idea is to make a thread to collect all the issues and feature suggestions that people are having, along with any work arounds people have found, and THEN, to send it to Cory and see if he'll pass it along to the Sync / MFT team. That way, our complaints on this forum are passed along to people that actually can do something about it, rather than passively hoping that our issues are fixed in the next release.

Please also search the thread to see if someone else has reported the problem. If you have more information on a particular problem, reply to that thread using the "quote" feature.

Guidelines:
1. Clearly label this as a bug or a feature suggestion
2. Describe your build exactly - Ltd, Xlt, etc... along with your rapid spec and any options
3. how many miles?
4. MFT version
5. An EXACT description of the problem, including what you were doing before and when the problem occurred, what you did to fix the problem, etc...
Be SPECIFIC - it's a lot easier for the MFT/ Sync engineers to fix problems when they have more context.

Example (and a real problem)

1.) bug
2.) LTD - 302A, tow, captains chairs, moonroof.
3.) 250 miles
4.) MFT v. 2.8
5.) Sirius channel browser sporadically works and is buggy. In particular clicking on browse will usually display the categories (sometimes just a blank screen with a back button), but clicking on the category, the system sticks in the "Loading" screen. Sometimes pressing "back" to exit out of the browser, then going back into the browser and clicking on a category will fix the issue. Sometimes not. It only works approximately 50% of the time.

What does everyone else think? Is this worthwhile to do?

jrmexplorer, thanks!!! This is a great idea!

1.) Bug
2.) LTD - 302A, tow, captains chairs, moonroof.
3.) 2500 miles
4.) MFT v. 2.8
5.) iPod Nano 6th Generation connected to lower USB port
6.) iPhone 4 connected for calling only, no BT streaming.
7.) USB does not show as an available device on the Infotainment Display (right side screen) upon starting the car. One must toggle right or left and then back to the list of devices for USB to "drop" into the list.

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5. Running in basic Interaction mode for voice commands. You are forced to say each command individually, then wait for her to complete her spiel before you can say the next command in the chain. You should be able to say the complete, advanced commands if you know it, even while in "basic" mode.

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5. Running in basic Interaction mode for voice commands. You are forced to say each command individually, then wait for her to complete her spiel before you can say the next command in the chain. You should be able to interrupt her instructions and say your command.

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5.Upon starting the X, the MFT screen always defaults back to the home screen. Should have the option to have it start with the home screen, go back to the last screen you were on when you turned it off, or choose another default startup screen from the various functions. The present three screen to choose from are not enough.

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5.When playing a CD, the X always starts with the CD on Play. This is true even if the CD was paused when the car was turned off. System should remember and go back to what it was before at vehicle start-up. At least the behavior should be configurable.

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5.There should be a way to backup/restore all the things you have done to personalize MFT (wallpaper, POI, station settings, etc).

1. feature
2. LTD - 302A, tow, moonroof.
3. 300 miles
4. MFT v. 2.8
5.The overall UI needs to be updated. It just seems a little clunky. Wish I could be more specific here, but the hiring of designers of modern software UI's should help along with some managers who understand software issues.

I have the same issue, thinking about it now with a Droid X connected (no BT streaming) and a USB thumbdrive inserted.

5.) when manually entering a point of interest in the navigation system using the keypad, If I type in something it tries to find a list of candidates that match what I've typed. To access this list you press on the "candidates" button. It then goes to a different screen where it pops up the candidates list. If I then press the button to go back to the manual entry screen to try a different name or correct what I've typed - the last character I've entered into the point of interest is deleted. For example: I enter "Casino" in the points of interest manual entry box and then click on the candidate list to pop up the candidates that showed up. None of them match, so I go back to the manual entry screen. The last entry "CASINO" should be displayed allowing me to edit "CASINO". However, what's being shown in the manual entry box is now "Casin" - the "O" has been dropped from the end. If I were to again hit the candidate lists and then go back again to the manual entry screen, the text changes to "Casi" - both the "N" and the "O" have now been forgotten.

5. After completing a route, the voice prompt says "route complete" or something similar. Fine and good, but in order for the map to revert back to regular GPS tracking, you have to hit the OK prompt on the screen. No point to this and is unnecessarily distracting while driving. Just have it tell you you are done and then go back to the regular map automatically.

5.) Entering Destination POI via VC, I say "Destintion POI." Sync asks "by name or by category?" Naturally, I should be able to reply "by name" or "by category." However, that command is not recognized. One must reply "SEARCH by name" or "SEARCH by category." If I don't use the word "search" Sync doesn't understand the command.

5.) MFT has been working for 4 months after I got the APIM replaced but now I'm receiving a 911 Assist fault and the SYNC system keeps doing the system maintenance over and over. A little screen appears for just a second. It looks like a windows classic/ 98 screen with a bunch of text in the middle. It happens occasionally. Yesterday, the MFT became unresponsive for Audio, Info, and Climate but I could still use the phone controls. The system lagged tremendously.

7.) After listening to the iPod and turning off/exiting/locking the vehicle, sometime MFT will not reconnect to the iPod after re-starting. Instead, the system will go to FM radio. When this happens, MFT becomes very slow and will not recognize the iPod via VC. I am able to select iPod for the media screen (eventually) but cannot call any USB-related voice commands. The behavior happens intermittently.

"scheduled system maintenance"

1. BUG & feature
2. Limited - Canadian - luxury seating, dual moonroof, powered 3rd row, towing package, polished aluminum rims, 4WD
3. 800km
4. MFT 2.8
5. Scheduled system maintenance occurs WHILE DRIVING! Until it restarts, you have no navigation, music, climate controls. Only Microsoft would design a car computer system which chooses to reboot when you're right in the middle of using it. If this is a required step, then have the vehicle intelligently choose a reboot time (eg. track your driving habits and do a reboot at a time where it's very rare you're using the car). Or, have a preference setting for it. The user should also be able to ABORT a maintenance shutdown if they wish to (but the car should never try to reboot while driving).

6.) While streaming Bluetooth audio, passenger attempts to use Google mobile app on the same iPhone4 thats streaming. The phone stops BT audio and initiates a phone call to "Unknown". The user closes the Google mobile app and the BT audio starts back up and the phone call stops. The user then uses the iPhone Safari app to browse internet and no interruption of BT audio occurs. Confirmed several times that no accidental phone call was made. Can replicate issue over and over again.

This issue is with Google and Apple not Ford IMO. This happened after the latest Google App update and exists on several BT handsfree devices not just Ford. The application is listening for your voice commands for Google search

That makes sense, I think your right.

7.) I keep reading on here that people have 'flawless' ipod playback. I'd like a clear definition on 'flawless' or better yet some video. The ipod playback STINKS on MFT. It's slow and poorly designed. I shouldn't have to start browising from scratch whenever I want to go back to the same playlist and choose another track that may be 100 songs away. There are aftermarket systems that are several years old that handle the ipod far better tha MFT. Page scrolling is excrucatingly slow. There's nothing that ay of the Ford 'reps' on here can do to fix this i am aware. I am also skeptical that Ford will make any solid efforts to appease the thousands of scorned Ex owners.

I feel that the best solution here is custom programming. Just like they do with smartphones, where genius programmers cook up these custom versions of Droid, winmo, etc. We need a custom version of MFT which addresses the multitude of inefficiencies. Hopefully there are some people reading this who either have the programming skills or knows someone who does.

Your ipod will actually play?

Mine just shows album art (very cool) but won't play music at all (not so cool).

Mine will only play music through bluetooth streaming from my iphone. Functionality from bluetooth streaming is near zilch. You can't select songs and there is no way to tell what it's going to play.

I like the idea of this thread, but I would have to submit 25 entries....

Maybe I'll do this later to feel like I'm being proactive at a fix. I'm so frustrated with this Explorer right now. It's a huge let-down.

Hi guys,

Thank you for taking the time to post this information. I will pass along these details to the SYNC Support team but if anyone has a specific concern that they want to troubleshoot further with SYNC Support, I recommend using one of the conventional channels. This includes calling (800-392-3673 - Option 1 then 3) or private messaging me (if you haven’t already done so). Thank you.

Cory

5. Files in a folder should be playable in an user desired order. Right now, playing a folder of music off a USB drive, it just seems to to do it alphabetically, even though the file names have numbers in front of them. There should be a way to specify your preferences in the order songs are played. Alphabetically, alpha-numerically, album order tag info, etc.
