Oil in air intake (air filter)

I was replacing the air filter and there is a lot of oil in the air intake area 2-3 tbsp. any help on this would be appreciated. I removed what i thought was the PVC valve but it is basically a hollow tube with no valve.

While abnormal, this is pretty common. If the oil is in the filter box, you need to clean out the intake piping, and the clean the MAF. The oil is coming from the PCV system and over time it "flows" into the intake. Its more like "vapor creep" than a leak or some other part failure.
