Oil leak!!! Please help!!

i have a 1992 ford explorer 4.0L v6 (it is the push button 4x4) and its been leaking oil, not alot but it dripps out every so often... ive had my buddies look and they have given me 2 different ideas: oil pan gasket or rear main seal (ithink its called) i know NOTHING about cars and just wana get this thing fixed, it runs really good with the leak and there is no burning smell, and kind of help would be appriciated.. thanks!

I suggest you start by putting some white cardboard under it to catch the leak. Color can tell you if it is engine oil or transmission fluid.

well i figure its engine oil because i checked the oil in the morning and it was at the full line, the next day it was well below the 1qt line.
