oil leak

anyone had a oil leak coming from the oil filter. it is on tight. want leak just idling but go down the road came back and it was leaking.

Are you sure you got the other gasket off? I’d remove it and scotchbrite the sealing surface and inspect the gasket.

yes i made sure it was off

I agree with above, the gasket is screwed-up or installed over the old one. This assuming you cleaned-up and the oil that got around from changing the filter was wiped-up?

Also possibly a defective filter. I have had them before

Best case is that either you forgot the new gasket. Worst case, you crossthreaded the filter on. Was it hard putting it back on?
