Anyone had to replace the oil pan gaskets on a 2006 V6 explorer? Took in to dealer for oil change and now have oil leak. Dealer says oil pan gaskets leaking (upper and lower). Does anyone have any idea how difficult these are to change yourself. $1800.00 seems like an awful lot to me.

Did he offer vaseline and a kiss when they were done? Your looking at 40 bucks in gaskets and a day of work. The lower is a breeze. The upper has 2 bolts that are a dog to get at on the back and the ones in the centre are kind of confusing, but check them out on youtube and they will make sense.

On a side note, I cant recommend the engine tech gaskets. I found the rear seal portion of the gasket did not fit into the recession in the block very well. I ended up having to trim mine down with a knife to get it to fit properly.
