oil pressure

My 2000 Explorer XLT loses all oil pressure after running for approximately 15 minutes. If the engine is then shut off, you can restart and the oil pressure is back for approximately 15 minutes. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to fix it?

gauge only?

When the gauge indicates loss of oil pressure does the engine sound like its dropped? If not, you may just have a defective oil pressure switch. However, I would not risk driving the vehicle until you confirmed that it is just a gauge/switch problem. Which engine do you have?
