 i recently switched to synthetic oil in my b2. not even a day after i did this my truck started to tick. also my clutch started to slip quite badly. i added a lucus oil stabilizer and that calmed the tick kind of, doesn't tick all the time any more. as for the clutch it still slips. i suspect the rear seal. do i needd to change the oil back to conventional? do i need a heavier oil than 5w30? do i need to change the clutch?(its only 8 months old) HELP PLEASE!!! this is my daily driver and need it fixed asap. i have thought about 4.0 &5.0 swaps but dont have the time or money.

The oil issue shouldn't affect the clutch. Unless of course, you leaked oil into it. I would think if it did you could use brake cleaner to remove the oil, but I don't know if the clutch would glaze up from slipping. How many miles on the motor? Is the recommended oil 5w30?

i don't no if 5w30 is recomended, the truck has 270km.

the tick worked it self out, but the slip is still there i am haveing to rev it up to like 4000 rpm to get it to move at all. i need some help with this I am supossed to go on the highway next weekend. it feels like my foot is still on the clutch when i am trying to drive. any help would be great.

I'd imagine that there is a problem with the clutch surface. If you got oil in there it is probably glazed up. You might be looking at a new clutch. Is the clutch hydraulic?

does your rear seal leak onto the cutch?

the clutch going could be related to the oil change, but generally engine oil has nothing to do with the clutch

yes it is a hydrolic clutch. how do you check to see if your rear seal is leaking onto your clutch?

is it true that synthetic oil in older engines well find a way to leak?

i found a rubber plug at the bottom of my bellhousing popped it out and found this black gum in there i am assuming its dust from the clutch mixed with oil. LOTS OF IT!!! now what do i rip the trany out or is there an easier way to deal with this?

bad news !!! even with my clutch slipping as bad as it was someone stole my bronco. this realy sucks. i know insurance is going to realy srew me..

That really sucks. Since it wasn't right maybe the police will find it abandoned undamaged. Did they hotwire it?

Hope you get it back. But you really need to remove tranny and look at that clutch. Also while your at it check out that rear main seal. Sounds like both may have to be replaced.

Despite what others may argue, and I respect their opinion: I have seen where synthetic oil leaked where conventional oil did not. I filled my front differential with synthetic oil, Amsoil no less, and my pinion seal started weeping oil within a few days. A few unfortunate events later, and I had to remove the differential, I refilled it with conventional oil, the leak was gone.

I guess all of this is a moot point now, sorry to hear about your BII. I hope they have a special section in hell for people who steal and damage other people's cars.

I know of peole that had the same problem when dino was replaced with syn. after using dino for a long time. They even had all kinds of goo coming out when draining the oil for the first time. Now I plan to go to syn after 10,000 miles after breakin of the new engine. That syn.must really be slick.
