I do realized that there is another post that was just added about oil but I didn't want to threadjack his post.. I have a 99 explorer 5.0l with 180,000 miles and I have been changing the oil regularly .. I use castrol syn-blend 5-30w and I just realized the other day I can get a 5qt jug of castrol syntec for cheaper than the syn-blend ... So my questions is would you switch to syntec with all the miles on the motor or pay more for the syn-blend and would you change anything??? I only use oil that I can get at a store so I don't have any problems down the road getting it...

Thanks
Jason

The motor doesn't care what kind of oil you are using. You can switch between conventional, blends or synthetic as often as you want and it will never cause a problem. This has been discussed many times on this board and many others.

If you want to learn more about oil though, I recommend www.bobistheoilguy.com and its attached forums.
